Create and UI Button in ArcMap and call the attached form from the Click() Event eg. "CreateMultipatches.Show vbmodal".

 

Description:
A useful tool for converting 3d features from CAD or for creating 3d features derived from Lidar.

Target layers:
Multipatches are supported in valid shapefile and geodatabase feature layers.

Source geometry must come from Polygons that have an elevation attribute. Create the Multipatch feature class in ArcCatalog first.

This tool is implemented through a form. It uses the current ArcSDE or raster imagery in ArcMap and references features in a feature layer.

 

Select a feature and a new raster dataset is created from the image.

it is useful when there is ArcSDE imagery and you only require a small subset based on an area.

The image is saved as jp2 format because resolution is kept and compression is high.
